The Addiction...
So now that you now all about the Halo trilogy and the possibility of Halo 4 in the future, I want to tell you about a little personal experience of mine involving Halo 3 and the addiction that i recently got from it. Average or "normal" people typically make fun of a video gamer, especially when all the do is play video games. But until you have personally played a video game like Halo 3, I don't think they need to talk bad about it. I was never a huge video gamer and I didn't ever play the original Halo or Halo 2 except for a few times with my buddies. But when Halo 3 came out, I was hanging out with an old buddy of mine who I didn't realize was a huge Halo gamer! So of course he was one of those people who managed to get a copy of the game like the day it came out. So we played it and we invited many more of our friends to play the game with us. Finally more of my friends purchased the game and it started to become a new hit thing for us to do on the weekend. We would get anywhere from 4 to 8 people down in this kid's basement playing Halo 3. This is when the addiction began!

I had never played ANY video game as much as when I played Halo 3 with these guys. But all of that started to come to an end when it was time for us to part our separate ways to go off to different colleges. Fortunately for me, I am rooming with my best friend and he is one of the kids who has an XBox 360 and has Halo 3. Although when school first started I never played! I don't think I even touched a controller. Just the past week, my friend decided to purchase XBox Live so we could play Halo 3 with some of our friends that were back home or at another school. But even then I was not very interested and wanted to focus on my studies. But one afternoon, I had a lot of spare time before my next class and I didn't have anything to do. I had already messed around online and was all caught up on my homework. So I decided to sit down and try the whole XBox Live thing. I got on and noticed that our old friend was on and he was playing Halo 3 as well. So I joined his party and started to play! It was so much fun. I got so caught up in the game, that I was playing for like 3 hours. I almost missed my 4:30 class that afternoon. Since then, my roommate and I have played online so many times! So the addiction continued to form.
So yesterday, I then started to play with another one of my friends who came over. We played for like an hour or so and then he had to leave. When he left I continued to play for another couple of hours. The worst part about this is that I had a huge physics assignment online that was due at midnight that night and I hadn't even started on it. I knew it, I was starting to become one of those kids who put off their homework with video games. At this point I knew that I was addicted... addicted to Halo!
The addiction is real!

I know exactly what you are talking about with the halo addiction. I never really played the first halo unless I went to my cousin's house, but we never played for more than an hour or so. However, when I bought Halo 2, my brother and I would play all the time since it was the only game we had that we could play on xbox live with our friends. Now Halo 3 is the only game that we continue to play other than sports games. It never seems to get boring as long as you don't play for numerous hours on end.
I completely agree the addiction is real. I will have to admit to being under this addiction. Halo 3 is a great game but if you cannot control yourself it will take over your life. I will say that it is not bad to play Halo 3 but make sure to get the more important things out of the way. College is your future and you do not want to throw it away for a video game. Make the best out of the time you have now and enjoy hanging out with friend no matter what you are doing, as long as it is safe.
