FFX: By Far My Favorite Game Of All Time

Yeah, I know. I'm technically supposed to blog in order to "bring to light the true gamer's disposition" or some crap like that, but I've decided to break away from this (at least for this post). I want to rave about one of my favorite videogames: Final Fantasy X. Final Fantasy is a series of RPG's, or role-playing games, games that focus on strategy, adventure, and story. Here's a little history lesson about Final Fantasy. Squaresoft was a small, poor game-creating company during the time of the original Nintendo console. Quickly losing money, they decided to invest their money on one more game, which they called Final Fantasy, since if it didn't do good, they would go bankrupt, and never make games again. Obviously, the game was a massive success, and they are now currently making a 13th installment of the original series that will be playable on the PS3. Now, that I've told you than, let's move backward from now to the first PS2 Final Fantasy game, FFX. The PS2 allowed the series to up the ante on their graphics, and allowing things like voice overs, something that is standard on today's games.

Now there is the actual game of FFX. FFX's story centers around a 20ish year old guy named Tidus. He lives in a massive, futuristic city called Zanarkand. His father was the champion of a new sport called blitzball, a combanation of soccer and football, all of which occurs underwater. one day his father all but disappears into thin air. Needless to say, his father's talents passed onto him and we have yet another blitz champ of Zanarkand. One day, during a tournament match, a large, montrous creature emerges from the ocean and obliterates Zanarkand. In the wake, Tidus meets up with an older man that he seems to know from childhood named Auron, who then helps him to escape the destruction. He purposely leads him close to the creature, who he had revealed to be called "Sin", and him and Tidus disappear in a bright light eminating from Sin and Tidus blacks out.

Now I could tell you the entire story, and don't think I couldn't, because I've beaten it once and played through it to far points many, many times. I could, but I won't. Since the blog would be twenty pages long or something, and I would prefer that you play the game yourself. Now I do have to warn you if you do decide to play it. It is one of those 60-hour games, and I can attest to that, since the amount of hours it said I played before the end was around 56. Another thing is, even though it is on the PS2, it is an older game, which means the faces don't do much expressions, and the voiceovers are average at best. That aside, it is an awesome game with a whole plethra of plot twists and fun moments to make you say "That was an awesome game!" when you've beaten it. So just go and try it out. I promise that if you like these kinds of games you won't be disappointed.
