I know that it's not nearly close enough to Christmas now, but I'd like to write about the games that are going to come out during Christmas. Here's a few pointers I learned about buying games for Christmas or birthdays or whatever.
1) Don't just buy a game because it looks awesome. Buy it because it is fun and will be well worth your money.
2) Used! Games don't become less awesome the less money you spend on them. Go to Game Stop or something! If you pay $15 for a used Halo then it's not like it's going to suck. Plus cheaper stuff allows you to buy more games with the same amount of cash.
3) Rent first if possible. If a game looks iffy in its awesomeness, rent it. If you don't like it, it's better to spend $4 to find out it sucks than to blow $50 and discover that.
4) Gamer Reviews. If the commercial says it rocks, it MUST be true! Not exactly. You now as well as I do that those reviews that say "two thumbs up!" and "4.5 stars out of 5!" can be easily bribed for to make the game look good. Look at gamer magazines and game review shows like
X-play on G4 channel and listen to their reviews. They are a lot more critical than anyone else out there, ensuring you get the best games.
5) M is for Mature. If you are one of those people that believe that games are the reason for all the sorrow and crime in the world, yet you'll buy your 5-year old kid GTA or God of War, you may want to exit this blog NOW because of what I'm going to say now...
JUST SHUT YOUR DANG MOUTH ALREADY!!!!
I mean, if that's seriously believe that's the case, then don't buy the flippin' games! There are plenty of non-gruesomely violent games out there that your kid can play, like most RPGs or something like sports games. Madden '08 never hurt nobody. I'm just saying that if you hate them so much, don't play 'em. You can put child blocks on TV, so what's stopping you now?!
That is my rant for the day.
6) Choose the console that fits you. All the new consoles out are pretty close in greatness, so if money is an issue, I'd advise the Wii. But if you can survive without your HD, burn-out-your-retinas graphics, it's a toss up between XBOX 360 and PS3.
So that is my advise for my fellow gamers and those starting in gaming. If you didn't appreciate the rant, I apologize. I get a bit passionate about the issue of people getting mad at M games. Hope this helped you choose the right games for you!

I definitely agree on the M rated game rant. I hate it when people try to protest games. They should just leave it alone and block the games out. The game won’t chase them down and get them. That stuff just makes me so mad. Your time would be better spent protesting the tobacco industry or something that you one hundred percent know causes harm to people.
Now to the main point of your blog, I also try to research games I seem to like before I go buy them. However, I have only been persuaded not to buy a game only like once by doing that. I don’t know if that’s because I naturally like games that are good or if I have a strong head and don’t let bad reviews turn me away.
