Last time I wrote about how gamers spice up their old games by playing them all the way. Getting every single unlockable, they strive to get the 100% completion. This time I will discuss of another method. Some people just buy a new game every time. That may work, if you're freakin' rich, but for the rest of us, the best way (which primarily works for computer games) to get your money's worth in a game is with mods. A mod is a alteration in the games programming that creates interesting effects, like half-gravity or bigger explosions. Then gamers will utilize these mods to do crazy things, like jumping from building to building in one jump, or using an grenade to launch a tank at another character. Gamers usually use recording programs to capture these crazy moments as they happen, and end up posting them on Youtube or something. This is the harder but more satisfying way to make an old game fun, by bending the game's rules a bit to do cool stuff that you can show to your friends. Once I saw a video of people who were playing Halo 2 online, and they had a contest of how high they could launch a humvee. Yes, I said a humvee. They put sticky grenades that don't explode automatically on one side, then every body put regular grenades on the other side. The grenades explode, setting off the sticky ones, which in turn launch the car hundreds of feet in the air over a hill. They even had someone stand on top of the hill as the humvee pass inches over their head as it fell to the other side. That, my friends, is awesome, and by far the best way to make old games new again.

I know exactly what you mean. There are many times when I have played a game through so many times that I do not know what to do. I am somewhat video game challenged, so I don't know all of these "mods" but I know several people that do have an understanding as to what they are and how to use them. The writer just unveiled to me a "second play-through," on all my games. Now I can go back to them and beat them with no gravity, or have contests to see who can do the coolest whatever. You guys opened up a new world to me. Thanks
