What Gamers Do When They Don't Play Games

Gamers like to buy things. Primarily that consists of games and game systems, but there is the occasional "schwag". "Schwag" is a term that refers to the cool electronics, games, and game-related memorabilia that you simply must have. Most of these items come out in the summer, when you are working the most and therefore have enough money to purchase these various items. Examples of schwag are iPods, cell phone, new videogames, and videogame collectibles. When I say "videogame collectibles", I mean the items that you can collect (duh) that are related to videogames (double duh). You know, things like action figures or swords. I regrettably am one of those gamers that collects videogame memorabilia. But don't worry, I don't collect action figures. Doing that kind of defeats the point of buying them if they are just going to collect dust in their original package for twenty years. I, on the other hand, am a collector of game swords. That may seem all weird and geeky to you, but I think that games are awesome, and swords are awesome, so why not get swords that are based of videogame swords? That makes sense, doesn't it? I currently have three swords in my collection, all from Square Enix games, since their games usually have the coolest swords. Other than those I don't get much else in terms of schwag. I'm not nearly wealthy enough. Games obviously like games, but people like me want to actually own something that reminds them of the cool things they did when they played that game or just wand something cool to have that nearly no one else has. That's why people buy schwag.
