Usually we talk about gamers, but this time I would like to talk about new games. Games have come a LONG way since they began. I mean, look at the Atari system, with games like Pong. Those games had old graphics, and games nowadays are HD, with graphics so good, your corneas with singe, and you may lose control of your bowel movements. That may be cool and all, but the games back then were fun and especially challenging. My dad always tells me, "Your games are two hard, with their four triggers, four buttons, analog sticks, and such. Just give me a game with one or two buttons, and a joystick and I will be happy." He talks about how he would own me if I played against him on an arcade game, and he'd be right. If i were to play something like Dig Dug, he would totally destroy me with his high score. The reason is because games back then were as hard or even harder to beat than today's games. Back then, you didn't have "save points" or something to save your progress along the course of the game. If you were playing Donkey Kong, were on the last level, had one life, and died, guess what?! You'd have to go to the very beginning again, and start over. Just imagine if you had to do that with one of those 60 hour RPGs I mentioned in an earlier blog. Just imagine that you had to start over ever single stinking time you keeled over. I would bet that you would make sure you characters are definitely strong enough to take on your enemies, since all your hard work is on the line. The point is that we should appreciate or new games, but don't knock the old games either, because games are fun when their challenging, and those games were definitely challenging...
